Anthropologie Assistant Store Manager – Cheltenham, UK

Role Summary

To achieve the Anthropologie mission of creating an ‘unimagined store experience’ by developing a store culture that fosters creativity, and inspires both the store team and the customer. To support the Store Manager in achieving strategic short‑ and long‑term goals, assume store accountability for sales, service, profitability and loss prevention, and ensure appropriate feedback and guidance to enable high rates of succession and employee development. Participate in building community relationships that reflect the Anthropologie culture.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • People
    • Recruit, train and develop managers to increase day‑to‑day productivity.
    • Assist with the development of the management team to ensure succession planning and future growth.
    • Manage all aspects of performance development (appraisals, development plans, coaching, counselling and disciplinary actions).
    • Uphold company standards and act as a mentor, teacher and positive role model.
    • Lead by example and inspire a shared vision by communicating store and company goals.
    • Assist and participate with the roll‑out of all new training and operational initiatives.
    • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Manage and motivate the store teams to achieve an unimagined level of customer care.
  • Managing the Environment
    • Coach the management team to take initiative as leaders.
    • Oversee all levels of customer service and ensure a positive store environment.
    • Exhibit excellent floor presence by training and coaching the team on customer service, standards, product placement and time management.
    • Partner with the Store and Visual Manager to ensure shop‑floor work is carried out efficiently and with minimal impact on the customer experience.
  • Operations
    • Conduct walkthroughs with the Visual Manager and Department Managers on a regular basis, providing constructive feedback and attainable goals.
    • Guide the team to perform all store‑level operational procedures accurately and in a timely fashion.
    • Achieve store stock‑loss goals.
    • Ensure a functional shipment processing system to facilitate new merchandise placement and product standard adherence.
    • Possess excellent organisational skills and the ability to plan, organise and execute projects by priority.
    • Assist in upholding company health & safety procedures at all times.
  • Merchandising and Display
    • Facilitate communication between store management and the visual team to enhance the store environment and execute merchandising projects on time.
    • Coach others to understand and interpret current fashion trends in local markets to generate creative solutions for the Anthropologie customer.
    • Work alongside the Visual Manager to balance an inspirational yet commercial shopping environment.
  • Commercial Awareness
    • Assist the Store Manager to maximise sales and manage stock levels through analysis of relevant reports, market trends and creative merchandise management.
    • Show a sound understanding of the store’s profitability and guide team members to use company reports to react to trends and drive business.
    • Stay abreast of current and local trends and possess a sound knowledge of the customer profile.
    • Demonstrate entrepreneurial skills to achieve and exceed store targets.

  • Ability to positively impact results in sales, payroll and stock loss.
  • Proven record of developing a management team and talented individuals.
