It’s a hugely exciting time at Anthony Nolan as scientific research promises to inform and transform the ways in which we treat blood cancer and blood disorders. We need a talented senior manager to shape, develop and lead our PR and communication strategy to raise the profile of our lifesaving research and vital policy work so we can have even greater impact for patients.
With a focus on key audiences in science, healthcare and policy, you and your team will use media relations, media partnerships, networks and other public facing campaign platforms to grow our reach and influence to help create a future where every patient that needs us can survive and thrive.
You will:
- Lead and develop the research and policy communications strategy and deliver integrated PR campaign plans which build awareness and understanding of Anthony Nolan among key audiences.
- Have significant experience in national media relations and reputation management as well as a successful track record in delivering sustained media coverage for medical research and health policy stories.
- Have strong demonstrable experience of transforming complex scientific information into engaging copy and content for a lay audience.
- Lead and develop your two direct reports, establishing the team as experts in research communications, providing strategic support across the charity.
- Have brilliant stakeholder management skills and experience of working with researchers, organisations in the life sciences sector (public and private), senior leadership and journalists.
- Have an understanding of and interest in current and emerging health policy issues.
- Be proactive in seizing opportunities to react to the news agenda and respond to potential issues or risk.
- Be a key member of the ambitious Communications and Engagement team, working collaboratively with colleagues and building relationships for success.
