As a Paralegal, you will work with a team of partners, solicitors, and paralegals in Anthony Gold's Court of Protection department. Your role will include the following, but additional tasks may be added as appropriate for the role:
- Assist in the provision of administrative and legal services for clients.
- Assist, where requested, in the provision of legal advice to clients, under supervision.
- Take notes in client meetings.
- Attend clients at hospitals, care homes and in their homes.
- Make regular payments to clients and keep accurate schedules of these payments.
- Forecast forward spending and create budgets.
- Day-to-day contact with clients and their individual lifestyle requirements.
- Manage professionally and confidentially, written and telephone correspondence with clients, other solicitors and third parties.
- Delegate and supervise tasks where appropriate.
- Work as part of a team under the supervision of a Partner of the firm.
- Provide an efficient and friendly service to our clients.
- Produce letters, witness statements, court applications, and other documents as required.
- Maintain client care standards as set out in the firm’s terms of business and office manual.
- Continue to develop your legal ability.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have 1‑2 years experience working as a Paralegal in Court of Protection. They should be able to work to tight deadlines, possess good Microsoft skills, particularly Word and Excel, and have a good customer focus. A flexible and proactive approach with a 'can-do' attitude is essential, along with the ability to work well under pressure. Candidates should be organised and able to prioritise, with excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. An ability to work with figures is also important.
Qualifications
A degree in Law and previous experience working in a Court of Protection role is preferred.
