About the position
We are currently seeking an Associate/Associate Director – Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Compliance to join our fast-growing EHS consulting team based in the United Kingdom. At Antea Group UK, we combine technical expertise with a collaborative approach to deliver sustainable solutions for our clients. You’ll be part of a dynamic team that values innovation, professional growth, and making a positive environmental impact. The role will be based in our EHS Practice with strong links to colleagues in our Environmental Planning Practice.
Your primary responsibilities will be supporting both local and multinational clients across various industries, including energy, manufacturing, technology, food & beverage, bio-pharma, and chemical, in the development, implementation, and management of their EHS programs. This role has a particular focus on environmental compliance but experience in health and safety is desirable.
Key activities under this role would include (but not be limited to):
- Deliver expert guidance on UK and European environmental legislation and compliance.
- Input into EHS Legal Registers.
- Implement, maintain, and audit ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
- Prepare and submit environmental permits and licences to regulatory bodies.
- Conduct environmental audits and legal compliance assessments (often as part of wider EHS Compliance Audits).
- Develop environmental procedures, documentation, and sustainability strategies.
- Support clients with Construction Environmental Management Plans, and CL:AIRE Materials Management Plans.
- Deliver accredited and non-accredited environmental training courses.
- Manage your own client portfolio, acting as a trusted EHS advisor.
- Drive business development and contribute to achieving team targets.

- Ability to coordinate and steward internal and third-party resources.
- Proficient use of tools to measure and manage project performance (full training will be given).
- Understanding of risk management (contract review, project documentation, etc.).

- Continued development of technical skills.
- Ability to support company marketing activities in the context of their services.
- Ability to promote and exemplify firm values and foster a professional, inclusive culture.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel as required for project work.
Preferred experience/qualifications
- Degree in Environment, Health & Safety or related field.
- 10 -15 years or more of applicable Environmental (and H&S) experience.
- Additional EHS qualifications or training desirable e.g. NEBOSH, ISO Lead Auditor.
- Must have a deep understanding of applicable environmental legislation.
- Experience in environmental auditing, permitting, regulatory compliance, and due diligence including experience of Industrial Environmental Permitting regulations and ASTM Phase 1 Standards.
- Ability to evaluate, establish and communicate project scope, schedule, and budget, and hold self and project teams accountable for meeting these matrices.
- Ability to delegate to and mentor junior team members to aid in their professional development.
- Must have a strong desire to develop and lead a team, and directly interface with multiple clients and stakeholders.
- Additionally, must be able to take direction and coaching from both clients and team members.
- Excellent management, planning, organisational skills, and effective time management area must.
- Experience driving projects through regulatory programs and engaging with regulators.
- Managing sub-contractors including bid spec development, contracting and insurance/safety review, project award and field supervision.
- Experience working under the different regulatory regimes across the devolved nations i.e. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
- Membership of relevant professional body preferred.
