About the role
As the Accountant, you are responsible for ensuring that financial transactions, reconciliations, tax obligations, and reporting are handled accurately and efficiently, and that internal controls and financial policies are being consistently applied.
You will develop a broad knowledge of Antala’s accounting systems and working relationships with internal / external contacts — such as banks, auditors, and HMRC while providing reliable support across the business.
- Financial transactions and reporting

- Publish financial statements within agreed deadlines, and handle monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes.
- Manage balance sheets and profit and loss statements, ensuring figures are accurate and properly reconciled.
- Report on the company's financial health, performance and liquidity to senior management, highlighting risks, trends and areas requiring attention.
- Maintain complete and accurate financial records and supporting schedules in the relevant accounting systems.
- Reconciliation, tax and compliance
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Reconcile bank statements and other control accounts, ensuring differences are identified and cleared in good time.
- Ensure timely and accurate bank payments, including supplier payments, payroll-related transactions and other scheduled outgoings.
- Compute tax liabilities and prepare tax returns, including VAT, corporation tax and other statutory filings, in line with HMRC requirements and deadlines.
- Audit financial transactions and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness and compliance with company policy.
- Comply with financial policies, internal controls and regulatory requirements, including UK GAAP and/or IFRS as applicable, and support external and internal audit processes as required.
- Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary.
- Financial planning, systems and stakeholder support
- Support the Financial Manager with cash-flow forecasting, working-capital monitoring and financial modelling to inform commercial and operational decisions.
- Assist with year-end procedures and liaise with external accountants or auditors, banks, suppliers and other departments on financial queries and documentation.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed-asset registers, accruals, prepayments and other balance-sheet schedules.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls, and provide dependable cover for other finance-team activities during peak workloads and absences.
