Antac are a dedicated team of 500 facilities related professionals across the UK, and we are looking for a HSE Director to oversee and lead our team of Health and Safety Auditors and Managers. This rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a persuasive and experienced Health and Safety professional to influence senior leadership and enhance safety performance across a rapidly expanding organisation. This pivotal role offers the chance to shape the company’s strategic direction, while maintaining a hands-on presence to embed a culture of safety and sustainability. As the leader of HSE initiatives across the organisation, you will play a crucial role in driving and fostering an environment where health, safety, and environmental considerations are at the forefront.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the company’s HSE strategy, policies and procedures in alignment with company objectives.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, motivate and inspire the team setting clear objectives. Review training needs for employees and contractors, providing necessary training in line with legislation and industry best practice.
- Culture & Compliance: Campaign a people-first safety culture, ensuring HSE practices are embedded in every aspect of the company’s operations, driving continuous improvement through safety initiatives.
- Performance & Metrics: Ensure compliance with company HSE procedures and key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions / improvements.
- Risk Management & Accreditation: Implementation of risk management processes, ensuring ISO accreditations and Integrated Management Systems (IMS) are maintained and continually improved.
- Reporting & Governance: Lead incident investigations. Provide regular updates to the Board, delivering key HSE performance metrics and reports on risks, incidents, and the implementation of mitigation strategies.
- Representation: Act as the company’s primary representative on all matters related to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, ensuring the business is seen as an industry leader in HSE practices.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience in a senior HSE leadership role, ideally within Facilities Management, Property Maintenance, or Construction sectors.
- Recognised qualifications in Health, Safety, and Environmental Management (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, CMIOSH, IEMA) with in-depth knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, best practices, and industry standards.
- Extensive knowledge of ISO Integrated Management Systems and compliance frameworks.
- Ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organisation, driving cultural change and fostering buy-in for HSE initiatives.
- Demonstrable experience managing large, geographically dispersed teams, ensuring consistent HSE standards across multiple locations.
- A passion for HSE and a proven track record of driving both operational and cultural transformation in the workplace.
