About the Company

ANT Recruitment is supporting an established UK transport and engineering business. The employer’s identity will be discussed confidentially during the recruitment process.

The Role

Maintain vans, pickups and other light company vehicles in a mixed workshop operation. The immediate appointment supports day-to-day servicing, reliable diagnosis and repairs, working alongside colleagues responsible for the wider plant fleet.

The light fleet includes vans and pickups. The specific vehicle mix and diagnostic equipment will be discussed during recruitment. Work alongside the mixed plant team without assuming that this is the specialist trailer/SPMT repair role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete routine inspections, servicing and pre-MOT preparation on light vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and relevant electrical faults.
  • Use service information and appropriate diagnostic methods to identify the cause of defects.
  • Record repairs, checks and outstanding work clearly.
  • Raise safety defects and communicate when a vehicle should remain unavailable.
  • Coordinate daily priorities with the workshop manager and support colleagues within your competence.
  • Maintain an orderly work area and apply safe workshop procedures.
  • Identify unfamiliar systems or tasks that require training or technical support.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Level 3 Advanced Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician qualification or equivalent relevant light-vehicle qualification.
  • Practical experience servicing and repairing vans, pickups or comparable light vehicles.
  • A methodical diagnostic approach and ability to explain the checks made after a repair.
  • Full, clean and valid UK driving licence.
  • Good communication, organisation and a reliable approach to workshop teamwork.

Desirable Experience

  • Mixed fleet experience and confidence with a range of vehicle ages.
  • Relevant electrical diagnostic capability.
  • Experience working alongside a plant or commercial-vehicle workshop.

Candidate Profile

This would suit a qualified light-vehicle technician who values practical work, clear standards and a varied fleet. ANT will discuss your recent repair experience and how you organise servicing and defects. Be ready to discuss your own diagnostic work, the vehicles you know and any systems on which you would need support.

Package and Working Arrangements

  • A three-month probation and review were discussed. A review does not guarantee a pay increase.
  • The indicative starting-pay discussion is not a confirmed pay scale or a guaranteed maximum. ANT will clarify the agreed rate before an offer is accepted.
  • Holiday, pension, overtime rates and any other benefits will be confirmed for this hourly-paid role. The salaried management package should not be assumed to apply.
  • The wider workshops currently operate around an 08:00-18:00 window. This is not confirmation of a 50-hour paid contract. Shift changes were being considered; exact working days, breaks and weekend cover need confirmation.
  • No company car was offered. Sponsorship and accommodation have not been confirmed.
