ANT Recruitment is supporting a well-established aviation engineering operation with the appointment of an experienced Ground Support Equipment Mechanic on a contract basis. This is a strong opportunity for a hands-on mechanic who is available for contract work and wants to support a specialist airport engineering environment, maintaining the equipment that keeps ground operations moving safely and efficiently.

The Role

  • You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, servicing and fault diagnosis of specialist ground support equipment and airport vehicles.
  • This will include a mix of workshop-based repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections and reactive breakdown support.
  • You will work on a varied fleet of equipment used within airport operations, including specialist vehicles, hydraulic systems, lifting equipment and ground support machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out maintenance, servicing and repairs on ground support equipment and specialist airport vehicles.
  • Diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical systems.
  • Service equipment such as baggage tractors, belt loaders, ground power units, air conditioning units, pushback tugs, lifting equipment and airport support vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, scheduled inspections and reactive breakdown repairs.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained in line with safety, compliance and operational standards.
  • Complete job cards, service records and maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Work safely within a fast-paced aviation environment where equipment uptime is critical.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a mechanical role, ideally within GSE, HGV, plant, commercial vehicle, bus, coach, fleet maintenance or military vehicle maintenance.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
  • Experience working with diesel engines, hydraulics, braking systems and general mechanical repairs.
  • Basic electrical diagnostic ability would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, safety-focused operational environment.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom.
  • Availability for contract work.
