Job Description

Technical Product Owner – FTC – 12 Months

Salary: Up to £88,000 (depending on experience)

Location: Knutsford

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Product Owner to join on a 12-month fixed-term contract. As Technical Product Owner, you’ll bridge the gap between business and technology. You’ll work closely with Product Owners, architects, and engineering teams to translate the product roadmap into actionable technical delivery. Your focus will be on API strategy, product lifecycle management, and developer experience, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, and future-ready.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the technical subject matter expert, supporting Product Owners and technical teams in shaping and delivering the roadmap.
  • Defining and driving API product strategy and vision, aligned with business objectives and user needs.
  • Managing and prioritising the product backlog, writing user stories, and collaborating closely with engineering teams.
  • Gathering, refining, and prioritising requirements from stakeholders to deliver measurable business value.
  • Continuously monitoring and optimising product performance to meet enterprise standards.
  • Staying up to date with industry trends to influence and improve product development.

Essential skills:

  • Proven experience in API product ownership – strategy, lifecycle management, and delivery.
  • Strong background in backlog management and Agile story writing.
  • Experience driving Developer Experience (DX) – documentation, onboarding, and support for API consumers.

Desirable skills:

  • Technical understanding of REST, OpenAPI specifications, and authentication methods.
  • Skilled in stakeholder management and communication, translating technical solutions into business value.
  • Exposure to Scaled Agile / SAFe, Lean Portfolio Management or Lean Product Development practices.
