A key player in the UK defence sector is expanding its missile manufacturing team and seeks an experienced Mechanical Manufacturing Technician to drive inspection, certification, and quality on advanced weapon systems. This role offers hands-on impact on national defence programmes in a fast-paced, collaborative workshop environment.

As a Mechanical Manufacturing Technician, you'll be central to inspecting and certifying mechanical hardware—from small fixtures to complex missile systems—across all production phases. Partnering with operators, engineering, and quality teams, you'll ensure builds meet drawing specs, time, cost, and quality targets while upholding the highest workmanship standards.

What you will be doing:

  • Inspecting completed hardware for compliance with drawings, specifications, and damage-free integrity.
  • Processing non-conformances, maintaining 5S standards, and delivering to programme timelines.
  • Certifying manufacturing documentation and collaborating on technical challenges for continuous improvement.
  • Supporting safe, high-output production in a multi-skilled team on missile development and in-service lines.
  • Identifying build issues and feeding back to engineering for defect prevention.

What we are looking for:

  • Level 3 Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing qualification (Apprenticeship Advanced/L3, ONC/diploma, or NVQ).
  • Proven experience reading assembly drawings, planning instructions, and inspecting mechanical hardware.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to produce high-standard work.
  • Flexibility in a busy workshop; ESD/FOD awareness a plus.

What's on offer:

  • Competitive salary circa £43,000 + up to £2,500 company bonus.
  • Pension (up to 14% total contribution), paid overtime, and flexi leave (up to 15 extra days).
  • Subsidised meals, free parking, enhanced parental leave, and excellent site facilities.
  • Career growth in a leading defence organisation with diverse, inclusive teams.
  • 5 days onsite in Stevenage due to workload (dynamic hybrid not applicable).

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be British Citizens eligible for UK security checks.
