We are seeking a proactive C# Software Engineer to join our Weapon Systems Simulation and Experimentation team. In this role, you will develop high-performance, real-time software solutions that simulate complex engineering systems, playing a vital part in the entire product lifecycle—from early concept development to in-service training. You will work within an agile environment where software, hardware, and innovation converge to deliver safer and more effective defense capabilities.
Compensation & Logistics
- Working Pattern: Dynamic (hybrid) working; minimum 2 days per week on-site.
- Security Clearance: Candidates must be a British Citizen or a Dual with British citizenship. Successful candidates must undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks and be eligible for SC Level Clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Development: Design and implement robust applications and services using C# and .NET Core.
- Simulation & Integration: Develop real-time simulation software and integrate it with complex hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) environments.
- Systems Architecture: Contribute to the design of scalable, event-driven architectures using technologies like Apache Kafka or gRPC.
- Agile Collaboration: Participate in Scrum ceremonies, performing unit testing and TDD to ensure high-integrity code delivery.
- Modernization: Assist in evolving legacy tools into modern, containerized solutions (Docker/Kubernetes).
Core Languages
- Strong proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem.
UI Frameworks
- Experience with WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) or WinForms for desktop applications.
Messaging/Data
- Familiarity with SQL Server, RabbitMQ, or Kafka for distributed systems.
Methodology
- Experience with Agile/Scrum, Unit Testing (NUnit/xUnit), and CI/CD pipelines.
Infrastructure
- Knowledge of version control (Git/Azure DevOps) and containerization (Docker).
