Join an organically funded HR technology startup focused on pay gap reporting, salary data analysis, and amplifying employee voice through data. Our client is building a platform centred on equity, transparency, and accountability, and is now hiring a mid-level developer to take ownership of day-to-day engineering alongside the two co-founders.
About the Role
As a Mid-Level Developer, you’ll work directly with the two co-founders of a purpose-driven HR technology startup, acting as the sole engineer on the platform. You’ll contribute across front end and back end development, building and evolving features that support pay gap reporting, salary analysis, and employee voice. The role offers a high degree of flexibility around working patterns and a clear opportunity to broaden your full-stack capability over time.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Building and extending product features primarily using JavaScript and CSS, with a focus on maintainable, production-ready code.
- Working across a full-stack, low-code architecture using Nordcraft on the front end and Xano on the back end, learning these platforms as needed.
- Developing and maintaining APIs to integrate the platform with external HR systems such as Workday and other third-party tools.
- Implementing pay gap reporting functionality, including ethnicity and disability reporting, and supporting differing regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
- Integrating AI-driven reporting and commentary features through external services and platform integrations, rather than developing AI models directly.
- Improving the robustness of the codebase by introducing or enhancing database backups, regression and unit testing, and applying appropriate web security practices.
Ideal Background
- Mid-level experience as a JavaScript developer, with exposure to front end and back end development.
- Willingness to work full stack and learn new platforms or tools, even if you have not used Nordcraft or Xano previously.
- Solid understanding of core web development concepts, including security, performance, and API design.
- Comfortable working as the sole engineer on a product while collaborating closely and communicating regularly with non-technical co-founders.
- Experience working remotely or in flexible working arrangements, with a reliable and organised approach to delivery.
- Able to provide references that speak to reliability and experience working independently or on contract-based engagements.
What You’ll Receive
- Salary of £55,000 for a full-time role, with openness to reduced hours, three-day weeks, or project-based delivery.
- Fully remote working by default, with flexibility around hours and an outcomes-focused approach.
- A supportive, founder-led environment with an emphasis on equity, fairness, and ethical use of data.
- Direct exposure to product decision-making and increasing technical ownership as the platform evolves.
- The opportunity to strengthen full-stack development skills in a real production environment.
Who Should Apply
This role suits a mid-level developer who wants ownership, flexibility, and closer involvement in product development than is typical in larger teams. If you enjoy working across the stack, communicating directly with founders, and contributing to a product with a clear social purpose, this role is likely to be a strong fit.
