An industry-leading national security and digital consultancy is seeking a Senior UX Designer (AI) to help shape the next generation of AI-enabled digital services used across government, defence and national security.
This Senior UX Designer (AI) role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-impact systems where thoughtful, human-centred design directly influences real-world outcomes in critical environments.
About the role:
As a Senior UX Designer (AI), you’ll join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team working at the forefront of AI, machine learning and secure digital platforms. Projects range from exploratory AI research through to the delivery of bespoke, data-intensive solutions operating at national scale.
This is an exciting time to join as a Senior UX Designer (AI), helping to guide responsible AI adoption while designing systems that are transparent, ethical and genuinely usable.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Designing intuitive AI-powered user experiences, grounded in Human-Centred and Responsible AI principles
- Leading end-to-end UX design across discovery, concept development, interaction design and delivery
- Translating complex research, business and technical requirements into clear, engaging interfaces
- Planning and running user research, usability testing and design workshops
- Producing high-quality UX artefacts including wireframes, journeys, information architecture and prototypes
- Coaching and mentoring junior designers, raising design maturity across teams
- Presenting confidently to senior stakeholders and clients, clearly articulating design rationale
- Championing user-centred, inclusive and accessible design within agile delivery teams
What they are looking for:
You’re an experienced UX, Product or Service Designer who thrives in complex problem spaces and is comfortable influencing at all levels.
You’ll bring experience in:
- Designing AI-enabled or data-driven products and features
- Applying User-Centred Design methodologies from research through to delivery Simplifying complex capabilities into user-friendly experiences
- Working closely with engineers, data scientists and product teams
- Communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences
Nice to have (but not essential):
- Experience working in government, defence or highly regulated environments
- Knowledge of ethical AI, explainability or data privacy principles
- Proficiency in Figma
- Agile / Scrum delivery experience
