Function: Cyber Security / AI Security

Industry: National Security / Defence / Technology

Salary: Up to £76,000 (DOE) + Security Clearance Bonus (£7k tax-free once DV, paid quarterly)

About the Role

Our client is a leading digital intelligence organisation with experts across multiple countries, working with governments, armed forces, and commercial organisations to unlock digital advantage in the most demanding environments.

We’re seeking a Senior Security Consultant (AI) to join their National Security AI team in London. This is a hands-on, strategic role where you’ll help clients secure AI/ML systems, advise on emerging AI threats, and design resilient architectures across cloud and hybrid environments. You’ll play a direct role in pioneering AI adoption for national security, delivering solutions that make a tangible impact on the UK’s security.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Conduct security assessments, threat modelling, and risk analysis across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
  • Evaluate and secure AI/ML systems, including model governance, data pipelines, and deployment patterns.
  • Advise on AI risk management: prompt injection, model poisoning, data leakage, privacy risks, and adversarial attacks.
  • Design and recommend secure architectures for AI-enabled applications, including LLM-based systems and decision-support platforms.
  • Develop security policies, standards, and guidelines, particularly around AI governance and responsible AI use.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement secure configurations, guardrails, and controls.
  • Stay ahead of emerging threats and best practices in cybersecurity and AI safety.

Ideal Background

  • Proven experience in cybersecurity consulting, architecture, or engineering roles.
  • Strong understanding of security fundamentals: IAM, network security, encryption, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Hands-on experience securing AI/ML systems, LLMs, or data science pipelines.
  • Knowledge of modern attack techniques including AI-assisted attacks, adversarial ML, and supply-chain risks.
  • Familiarity with cloud security frameworks (AWS, Azure, GCP) and industry standards (NIST, ISO 27001, OWASP, MITRE ATLAS).
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills, able to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • CISSP, CCSP, OSCP, CEH, GIAC, or cloud security certifications.
  • Experience with AI model evaluation, fine-tuning, RAG pipelines, or vector databases.
  • Knowledge of AI ethics, governance, and regulatory frameworks (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001).
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, automation, IaC, and security control integrations.

Security Clearance: Required. Candidates must be eligible for SC/DV clearance.

What You’ll Receive

  • Flexible working hours and hybrid working options (3 days in London office per week).
  • 25 days annual leave with option to buy/sell/carry over.
  • Flexible benefits: private medical and dental insurance, pension, cycle-to-work scheme, Tastecard, and more.
  • Dedicated Career Manager for personal development and progression.
  • Company bonus scheme and Diversity & Inclusion groups.

Who Should Apply

This role suits highly skilled cyber security professionals with experience in AI/ML security, who want to make a direct impact on national security. You’ll thrive in a collaborative, innovative environment with opportunities to develop across multiple disciplines.
