Opportunities like this don't come around often. We're partnering with an innovative engineering technology company that develops advanced monitoring and diagnostic products used to protect critical infrastructure around the world. Their technology helps customers identify potential failures before they happen, preventing costly outages and improving the reliability of high-value electrical assets. Due to succession planning within the engineering team, they're looking for an experienced FPGA & Electronics Engineer to take ownership of FPGA development and become the technical authority in this area.
This isn't a role where you'll be one of many FPGA engineers. You'll be the FPGA specialist within the business, working closely with software and electronics teams while having significant influence over future product development and technical direction. For the right person, this offers genuine ownership, autonomy and the opportunity to make a visible impact on products used globally.
Why This Role?
- Become the recognised FPGA expert within the organisation
- Take ownership of technical decisions and system architecture
- Work across the full product lifecycle from concept through to manufacture
- Influence the design of future products and technologies
- Join a highly skilled engineering team where your contribution is genuinely valued
- Gain exposure across FPGA, embedded software, electronics and hardware development
- Work directly with an experienced technical lead before taking over responsibility for the FPGA function
- Minimal customer interaction, allowing you to focus on engineering and product development
What You'll Be Doing
As a key member of the product development team, you'll be responsible for the design and development of complex electronic systems used within the company's monitoring and diagnostic product portfolio. Your responsibilities will include:
- FPGA development using VHDL and AMD/Xilinx technologies
- Designing and implementing FPGA architectures for new and existing products
- Developing embedded firmware in C/C++
- Working with STM32 microcontroller-based systems
- Supporting analogue and digital electronics design activities
- Contributing to low-noise signal acquisition and measurement systems
- Defining hardware requirements and guiding FPGA integration within PCB designs
- Performing simulation, verification and testing activities
- Producing technical documentation to support manufacture and product release
- Collaborating with software and electronics engineers throughout development programmes
What We're Looking For
We're interested in speaking with engineers who can confidently take ownership of FPGA development within a small but ambitious engineering environment. You’ll likely have experience in:
- FPGA design and development
- Embedded firmware development in C/C++
- Electronic hardware design
Additional experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Power supply design
About the Company
This is a growing engineering business with an international presence and customers across multiple global markets. The company develops its own proprietary products, meaning engineers have direct involvement in shaping technology from initial concept through to production and ongoing product evolution. The engineering team is intentionally lean, creating an environment where talented engineers can have a genuine impact, take ownership of their work and influence future technical direction. If you're looking for a role where you can move beyond being another engineer in a large team and become the recognised expert in your field, this could be an excellent next step.
