The Opportunity
We are supporting a leading technology and managed services organisation in the search for a 24/7 NOC Engineer to join their brand-new Technology Operations Command Centre in Belfast. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing operations environment responsible for supporting mission-critical customer infrastructure across complex enterprise networks. You will play a key role in monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving network incidents while working alongside experienced engineering teams in a fast-paced, collaborative setting. This role would suit someone with prior Network Engineering or NOC experience who enjoys problem solving, thrives under pressure, and is looking to develop their career within a large-scale technology operations function.
Working Pattern
- 24/7 shift-based environment
- 4 on / 4 off rotation
- Day shifts: 07:00 - 19:00
- Night shifts: 19:00 - 07:00
Role Overview
As part of the Technology Operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, stability, and performance of enterprise network environments through proactive monitoring and incident management. You will work across a broad range of technologies and customer environments, supporting critical infrastructure and helping minimise operational disruption through rapid fault diagnosis and resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor network performance, availability, and capacity using enterprise monitoring tools
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve network incidents across LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and telecoms environments
- Manage incidents and service requests through to resolution, ensuring accurate documentation and communication throughout
- Operate within agreed SLAs to deliver high levels of service and timely incident resolution
- Perform routine health checks, preventative maintenance, firmware updates, and minor configuration changes
- Produce clear technical documentation, incident reports, and shift handover notes
- Escalate complex issues to senior engineering teams or third-party suppliers where appropriate
- Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders during live incidents
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working within a NOC, Network Operations, or Network Engineering environment
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, LAN/WAN technologies, and routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
- Experience troubleshooting routing and switching technologies in enterprise environments
- Exposure to multi-vendor technologies such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and AWS
- Familiarity with monitoring and ticketing platforms such as SolarWinds, PRTG, ServiceNow, or BMC Remedy
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, shift-based operational environment
Qualifications
- CCNA or equivalent networking certification desirable
- CCNP, JNCIA, or related certifications advantageous
- Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance required
