A leading digital, cyber and technology consultancy is expanding its National Security engineering team and is looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join a growing practice based in Gloucester. This organisation delivers secure, cloud-native solutions in some of the UK’s most complex and mission-critical environments. The work has genuine real-world impact, supporting national security, defence and government clients, while also investing heavily in its people and local technology community.
The Role:
As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you’ll design, build and support secure cloud platforms used across high-assurance environments. You’ll work as part of multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with engineers, architects and stakeholders to deliver resilient, scalable and secure solutions. For senior-level candidates, there is also scope to provide technical leadership, mentor others and influence engineering best practice.
What you’ll be doing:
- Designing and implementing cloud-native architectures, primarily on AWS
- Building and managing infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK)
- Creating and managing secure cloud environments and deployment pipelines
- Working with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef
- Supporting containerised platforms using Kubernetes, ECS or similar
- Applying cloud security best practices and working closely with development teams
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
- Contributing reusable patterns, standards and automation to projects
About You:
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS and a desire to stay current with new services
- Proven experience using Infrastructure as Code
- Good understanding of networking and software-defined networking in the cloud
- Experience with container orchestration technologies
- Comfortable scripting in at least one language (e.g. Python, Bash or Go)
- AWS certifications are beneficial but not essential; training and certification support is available
- Enjoy working in collaborative, delivery-focused teams
