A globally recognised, FTSE-listed technology group is investing heavily in digital transformation across its portfolio of advanced engineering and manufacturing businesses. Their products play a critical role in improving safety, environmental sustainability, and healthcare outcomes worldwide.
As part of a central digital function, this role offers a unique opportunity to operate as an internal consultant, working across multiple operating companies to design and deliver cutting-edge manufacturing and Industry 4.0 solutions. This is not a traditional plant-based automation role. You’ll be shaping how modern manufacturing environments evolve, bringing together data, automation, and emerging technologies to drive measurable operational improvements.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading automation and digital manufacturing initiatives across production environments
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and performance at cell/line level
- Delivering pilot projects across areas such as MES, SCADA, IIoT, and robotics
- Working directly with operational and engineering stakeholders to define and solve real-world problems
- Building scalable approaches and frameworks that can be reused across multiple sites
- Supporting adoption of modern manufacturing technologies across a global group
What they’re looking for:
- Experience within manufacturing, automation, or Industry 4.0 environments
- Exposure to technologies such as PLCs, MES, SCADA, IIoT, or industrial data systems
- Strong understanding of production processes and operational challenges
- Ability to bridge the gap between engineering and digital/technical solutions
- Comfortable working across multiple stakeholders and sites
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to take ownership
Nice to have:
- Experience with robotics, AI, or computer vision in manufacturing
- Background in electronics or physical product environments
Why this role stands out:
- Work across a portfolio of innovative engineering businesses rather than a single site
- Real ownership - build and shape a function, not just maintain it
- Exposure to a wide range of technologies and manufacturing environments
- Strong long-term career trajectory into senior digital or operational leadership roles
- Backed by the stability of a global group, with the agility of smaller businesses
