An opportunity has opened for a Data Engineer to join a leading cyber and digital consultancy delivering mission-critical programmes across government, defence and national security environments. This role is particularly well suited to somebody around 2-3 years into their Data Engineering career who is looking to step into a stronger project environment, work alongside highly experienced engineers, and accelerate their technical development on genuinely complex programmes.

About the Role

You’ll join multidisciplinary engineering teams helping clients process, store and utilise large-scale datasets across modern cloud environments. The team are looking for somebody with solid fundamentals across Python, SQL and data pipelines, who is eager to continue learning and develop deeper expertise across cloud, DataOps and enterprise-scale data engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining ETL / ELT data pipelines
  • Developing scalable data processing solutions using Python and SQL
  • Supporting cloud-hosted data infrastructure
  • Working with architects, analysts and wider engineering teams
  • Applying software engineering and DataOps best practices
  • Supporting data modelling, orchestration and data management activities
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand technical and business requirements

Key Skills & Experience

  • Around 2-3 years experience within Data Engineering or Software Engineering
  • Strong fundamentals in Python and SQL
  • Experience working with data pipelines or data processing systems
  • Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP)
  • Understanding of data modelling, orchestration or DevOps concepts
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
  • Experience working within collaborative engineering teams
