This role is suited to strong developers and delivery-focused engineers rather than technical leads. Candidates should be comfortable working independently, collaborating with business and technology stakeholders, and delivering high-quality solutions with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities Design, build and optimise scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines. Develop and maintain solutions using Databricks, Python and SQL. Support migration of data assets from legacy platforms into modern cloud-based architectures. Integrate data from multiple enterprise systems, including Oracle databases. Develop reusable data engineering frameworks and best practices. Ensure data quality, integrity, security and performance standards are met. Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable fixes. Collaborate with architects, data analysts, business stakeholders and delivery teams to translate requirements into technical solutions. Produce clear technical documentation and support knowledge transfer activities. Essential Skills & Experience Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer within large enterprise environments. Hands-on expertise with Databricks. Advanced SQL development skills. Strong Python development experience. Extensive experience working with Oracle databases. Proven experience building and supporting data pipelines and data integration solutions. Experience working within cloud-based data platforms. Strong understanding of data modelling, performance optimisation and data quality controls. Experience working across the full software development lifecycle. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills. Desirable Experience ~ Banking or Financial Services experience. ~ Experience working within regulated environments. ~ Exposure to Azure Data Platform services. ~ Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices for data engineering. ~ Experience supporting cloud migration or modernisation programmes. ~ Familiarity with data governance and data lineage principles. Preferred BackgroundThe ideal candidate will have: ~5+ years of Data Engineering experience. ~ Strong development capability rather than architecture or management focus. ~ Experience delivering data solutions within complex enterprise organisations. ~ Ability to quickly understand business requirements and convert them into robust technical solutions. ~ A proactive and self-sufficient approach to delivery.
