My client is a leading quantitative hedge fund that is actively expanding its commodities platform across a broad range of products. The firm has a strong track record in systematic investing and is now building out its commodities business across both quantitative and fundamental strategies. This is an opportunity for a Commodities Trading Analyst to join a high-calibre team at an early stage of growth, offering significant exposure and the chance to contribute directly to the growth of the platform.

Key responsibilities

  • Sitting within a collaborative, high-performing team, working at the intersection of data, modelling, and market fundamentals.
  • Supporting the development of fundamental supply and demand models across commodity markets.
  • Conducting quantitative analysis using Python to support trading strategies.
  • Building and enhancing analytical tools, datasets, and research processes.
  • Producing ad-hoc analysis in response to evolving market conditions and trade ideas.
  • Monitoring and improving live strategies.
  • Working closely with traders and senior researchers on strategy development.

You will also gain exposure to the full trading lifecycle, including intraday analysis and longer-term model development.

Requirements

  • 0–3 years’ experience in commodities (internship or full-time).
  • Degree (BSc and/or MSc) from a top-tier university, ideally in a STEM discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Econometrics, Applied Economics).
  • Strong Python programming skills (essential); familiarity with Excel is a plus.
  • Prior experience analysing and modelling data.
  • Demonstrated interest in commodities markets and investing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information clearly.
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to take ownership of a wide range of tasks.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced, and globally integrated environment.
