Lead Data Architect

Anson McCade is delighted to partner with a leading digital transformation consultancy as they seek to appoint a Lead Data Architect to their talented team in the United Kingdom. The Data Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering high-quality data solutions. Acting as a subject matter expert, they will bring deep expertise in core data architecture disciplines, including data structures, data flows, data sourcing, and data governance. Working in close partnership with clients, they will analyse business and technical requirements to ensure every solution is robust, scalable, and fit for purpose.

This role demands technical leadership across all aspects of data architecture, with responsibilities that may extend to solution and enterprise-level challenges — such as resolving complex data definition issues, mastering data across multiple systems, and navigating diverse stakeholder environments.

With demand for innovative data-driven solutions growing, the Data Architect will join a dynamic Data & AI capability, contributing to a strong culture of technical excellence. They will lead teams to deliver cutting‑edge projects that solve real-world challenges, using the latest tools, platforms, and best practices.

In addition to technical delivery, the role involves managing, coaching, and developing a small team. This includes setting clear performance expectations, supporting career growth, and providing the leadership needed to tackle complex problems collaboratively.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience within the UK Healthcare sector or UK Public Sector.
  • Advanced technical design skills in key data architecture areas, including data modelling, data analysis, metadata management, data transformation, data migration, and master data management.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership on data projects, including quality assurance, mentoring, and defining standards.
  • Knowledge of best practice methodologies and techniques in data architecture.
  • Experience in selecting products and technologies for projects or enterprise-level solutions.
  • Strong client engagement skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, offering thought leadership to clients and inspiring internal teams.
  • Expertise in at least three mainstream data technologies, with an understanding of broader trends in the data technology landscape.
  • A self‑motivated professional comfortable working in environments with high levels of uncertainty, with a track record of developing and mentoring junior team members.
  • Ability to define information handling models and carry out capacity planning across varied data store technologies.
  • Experience in setting up and managing data governance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of architecting data lakes and associated ecosystem solutions.
  • Background in enterprise data architecture.
