Infrastructure Support Engineer

Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum + comprehensive benefits

Working Pattern: 3 days per week, with occasional on-call and weekend support

Security Clearance: Must be eligible for UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance, which generally requires five years of continuous UK residency.

The Opportunity

We’re supporting a well-established organisation with a complex internal IT estate, seeking an Infrastructure Support Engineer to join an experienced support and operations function. This is a hands-on, in-office role supporting secure, technically rich environments where availability, reliability and user experience are critical.

You’ll be working across modern cloud and virtualisation platforms while contributing to continuous improvement, automation and operational stability.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting, maintaining and improving cloud-based and on‑prem infrastructure environments
• Acting as a technical escalation point for infrastructure and platform issues
• Managing and supporting Azure cloud services, including virtual desktop environments
• Providing administration and support for Microsoft 365 / Office 365 services
• Supporting virtualisation platforms and hosting technologies
• Monitoring infrastructure availability, performance and security
• Troubleshooting complex incidents and implementing long-term fixes
• Producing clear technical documentation and knowledge articles
• Participating in on-call rotas and occasional out-of-hours support

What We’re Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience supporting Azure infrastructure environments
• Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
• Microsoft 365 / Exchange
• Virtualisation technologies (e.g. Horizon, Hyper-V or similar)
• Networking and firewall concepts
• Group Policy and cloud-based identity services
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Strong communication skills, both technical and non-technical

Nice to Have (Not Essential)

• Exposure to automation or scripting
• Experience in secure or regulated IT environments
• Familiarity with SaaS backup platforms
