The Director of Azure Cloud Services will lead the global Azure cloud strategy, architecture, and operations. You will ensure secure, scalable, and innovative solutions—including AI-driven services—within a managed service environment.
You will guide global teams, manage key vendor partnerships, and align cloud initiatives with business goals. This role also drives the development of new Azure capabilities, optimises cloud usage, and shapes the organisation's cloud strategy and adoption.
Key Responsibilities- Cloud Strategy & Innovation: Define and lead the global Azure cloud strategy. Promote the adoption of AI and machine learning (Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services) to enhance operational efficiency.
- Architecture & Design: Collaborate with Microsoft and SMEs to architect enterprise-grade Azure solutions across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
- Transformation: Lead the modernisation of legacy systems and enable cloud-native development. Partner with engineering teams to integrate AI into core business processes.
- Global Operations: Oversee 24/7 global cloud operations, ensuring high availability and reliability. Manage service support models, SLAs, and escalation procedures within a managed service environment.
- Security & Governance: Enforce cloud governance frameworks and security policies. Work with cybersecurity teams to implement Zero-Trust architectures and ensure compliance with GDPR, ISO 27001, and NIST.
- Leadership & Finance: Build and lead a high-performing global team. Take full accountability for the financial performance, budgeting, and cost optimisation of the business area.
- IT Leadership: Extensive experience in senior IT leadership, specifically focused on Azure cloud strategy and operations.
- Global Management: Proven experience managing distributed global teams and large-scale cloud environments.
- Technical Expertise: Strong mastery of Azure services, cloud architecture, and AI/ML integration.
- Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated ability in cloud cost optimisation (FinOps) and budget management.
- Partnership: A track record of successful collaboration with major cloud providers and senior stakeholders.
- Agility: A commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to adapt services to evolving cloud capabilities.
