An exciting opportunity has become available for an AI/ML Researcher to join an advanced research and innovation team developing next-generation Artificial Intelligence solutions for complex Defence, National Security and commercial challenges.
This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge research across areas including Large Language Models, Natural Language Processing, Knowledge Graphs, Agentic AI and Graph Machine Learning. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, academic partners and industry experts to develop innovative AI capabilities, create proof-of-concept solutions and contribute to research that has real-world impact. The role is based in Great Baddow with hybrid working, requiring 2-3 days per week on-site.

What You Need
- PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science or a closely related discipline
- Strong software development experience using Python
- Hands-on experience with Machine Learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs), Knowledge Graphs, Graph Machine Learning or Natural Language Processing
- Experience developing AI prototypes, proof-of-concept solutions or research projects
- Familiarity with development tools such as Git, Docker and modern AI frameworks including LangChain, LangGraph or similar
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience producing technical reports or research documentation
- Publications, open-source contributions or recognised research within AI/ML would be highly advantageous but not essential
- Must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC) and able to satisfy UK security vetting requirements
