We’re looking for an experienced User Researcher to help shape and deliver impactful digital services across major public sector programmes. This is an opportunity to join a growing digital capability focused on creating user-centred services that genuinely improve outcomes for citizens. You’ll work alongside multidisciplinary teams delivering large-scale digital transformation projects, using research and insight to influence service design, strategy, and delivery.

As a Senior User Researcher, you’ll lead and deliver research activities that uncover actionable insights and ensure services are designed around real user needs. You’ll play a key role in advocating for user-centred design principles, helping teams make evidence-based decisions, and supporting the delivery of accessible, intuitive, and effective digital experiences. You’ll also collaborate closely with stakeholders across delivery, design, and client teams within complex public sector environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, plan and deliver end-to-end user research activities across digital services
  • Select and apply the most appropriate qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Translate findings into clear, evidence-based insights and recommendations
  • Produce high-quality research artefacts, reports and presentations
  • Work closely with delivery teams, designers, product managers and stakeholders
  • Support service design and design thinking approaches across programmes
  • Coach and mentor other researchers and champion research best practice
  • Contribute to Agile multidisciplinary teams delivering large-scale digital services
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong experience delivering user research within public sector environments
  • Excellent understanding of user-centred design principles and research methodologies
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to influence decision-making through research and insight
  • Commercial awareness and confidence working in client-facing environments
  • Understanding of interaction design, information architecture and digital service design
Desirable Experience
  • Experience working within digital consultancy or agency environments
  • Experience contributing to service transformation programmes
  • Thought leadership or specialism within a particular area of research
Additional Requirements
  • Must hold active SC Clearance or be eligible to obtain SC Clearance
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
  • Role is UK wide but excludes London-based candidates
