Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Python Engineer to join a growing digital team working on exciting projects in the automotive industry. The company is part of a large global group and is focused on building modern tech solutions that improve the customer experience and help retailers deliver great service.
What you’ll be doing:
- Designing, developing and scaling backend systems built primarily in Python
- Leading technical decisions around architecture, tooling and best practices
- Mentoring engineers and contributing to raising engineering standards across the team
- Collaborating closely with Product, Design and Commercial teams to shape solutions
- Driving improvements in performance, reliability and automation
- Reviewing code, improving processes and helping embed modern engineering practices
- Contributing to a culture of continuous learning within an Agile environment
What we’re looking for:
- Extensive commercial experience building production-grade backend systems in Python
- Strong understanding of system architecture, distributed systems and API design
- Solid experience with modern cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Good knowledge of containerisation, CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code
- Strong database skills (PostgreSQL or similar)
- Comfortable leading technical discussions and guiding engineering decisions
- A proactive problem-solver who enjoys collaborating and sharing knowledge
- Clear communicator able to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
