Embedded Software Verification & Validation Engineer

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Embedded Software Verification & Validation Engineer to join a leading defence technology organisation developing some of the most advanced real-time embedded systems in the industry.

Working as part of a highly skilled engineering team, you'll be responsible for verifying and validating software used within complex, safety-critical products.

This role offers exposure to cutting‑edge technology programmes where you'll play a key part in ensuring software performs reliably and meets demanding operational requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Developing structured test cases and procedures from system and software requirements.
  • Executing verification and validation activities across embedded software applications.
  • Capturing, analysing and reporting test results to support engineering decisions.
  • Working closely with software, systems and integration teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Supporting software qualification activities throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of test processes and methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in Verification & Validation activities within an embedded software environment.
  • Previous embedded software development experience using Ada.
  • Experience translating requirements into robust test plans and test procedures.
  • Hands‑on experience working within a laboratory or integration environment involving embedded software and electronic or electromechanical systems.
  • A good understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
  • Scripting experience to support testing and automation activities.

Experience within safety‑critical environments or familiarity with standards such as DO‑178C, DO‑330 or Def Stan 00-55 would be advantageous.

Knowledge of RTOS environments, automated testing approaches, model‑based development or engineering tools such as DOORS, LDRA, Rapita or Rhapsody would also be beneficial.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging projects, collaborate with experienced engineers and contribute to the development of advanced defence systems used in some of the world's most demanding environments.
