Embedded Software Verification & Validation Engineer

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Embedded Software Verification & Validation Engineer to join a leading defence technology organisation developing some of the most advanced real-time embedded systems in the industry.
Working as part of a highly skilled engineering team, you'll be responsible for verifying and validating software used within complex, safety-critical products.
This role offers exposure to cutting‑edge technology programmes where you'll play a key part in ensuring software performs reliably and meets demanding operational requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Developing structured test cases and procedures from system and software requirements.
- Executing verification and validation activities across embedded software applications.
- Capturing, analysing and reporting test results to support engineering decisions.
- Working closely with software, systems and integration teams to resolve technical issues.
- Supporting software qualification activities throughout the engineering lifecycle.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of test processes and methodologies.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in Verification & Validation activities within an embedded software environment.
- Previous embedded software development experience using Ada.
- Experience translating requirements into robust test plans and test procedures.
- Hands‑on experience working within a laboratory or integration environment involving embedded software and electronic or electromechanical systems.
- A good understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
- Scripting experience to support testing and automation activities.
Experience within safety‑critical environments or familiarity with standards such as DO‑178C, DO‑330 or Def Stan 00-55 would be advantageous.
Knowledge of RTOS environments, automated testing approaches, model‑based development or engineering tools such as DOORS, LDRA, Rapita or Rhapsody would also be beneficial.
