An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Platform Architect to lead the delivery of innovative cloud platforms and solutions that enable large-scale business transformation and deliver real value to end users worldwide.

This is a senior leadership role for an experienced technologist who is curious, adaptable, and eager to embrace new technologies.

The Principal Platform Architect will provide technical leadership within multi-disciplinary agile teams, ensuring a shared understanding of business outcomes, technical landscapes, and solution complexity.

By guiding informed decision-making, this role will help shape solutions that meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders is a key aspect of the role.

The Principal Platform Architect will define architectural principles, set strategic direction, and play a pivotal role in establishing platform standards and blueprints.

Alongside this, they will act as a technology ambassador, sharing expertise across teams, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to career development within the wider architecture and platform community.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale platforms supporting cloud transformation, application modernisation, and deployment of web-based applications.

Define architectural strategies and principles, aligning platforms with business goals and user needs.

Collaborate with executive and senior stakeholders, translating complex technical information to support strategic decision-making.

Shape and implement technology standards, blueprints, and best practices across agile teams.

Mentor and develop architecture and engineering colleagues, fostering talent and supporting career growth.

Actively contribute to thought leadership, knowledge sharing, and the advancement of platform capabilities.

Essential Experience
Proven track record of leading large-scale cloud transformation programmes (cloud migration, modernisation, platform engineering, and enterprise deployments).

Strong background in making and executing technology decisions that drive positive business and customer outcomes.

Experience working with senior stakeholders, including executive and C-level leaders, with the ability to communicate technical insights clearly and persuasively.

In-depth knowledge of public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) across Iaa S, Paa S, and Saa S models.

Background in managing, coaching, and developing technology professionals within teams or communities.

Eligibility for Security Clearance (SC) to work on complex Public Sector programmes.

Desirable Experience
Experience contributing to business development alongside account and sales teams.

Track record of helping to recover and stabilise complex or challenging projects.

Involvement in the creation and promotion of new products or services aligned with strategic objectives.

Active participation in professional technology communities and sharing insights on industry trends.

Previous experience in performance management, including setting objectives and leading performance reviews.
