A global digital engineering and technology consultancy is building out its cloud capability and is looking for an AWS Cloud Engineer to help design and deliver scalable, cloud-native platforms that power enterprise-grade products. The organisation works with major enterprise and regulated clients to modernise legacy systems, build new digital platforms, and deliver high-performance cloud solutions at scale.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work across the full lifecycle — from design through to deployment and live operations — building serverless, event-driven systems on AWS. You’ll be part of a cross-functional team working closely with product, platform, and DevOps engineers, with real ownership of technical delivery.

What you’ll be doing

  • AWS Cloud Engineering
    • Designing and building serverless applications using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, and SNS.
    • Developing scalable microservices and event-driven systems using Node.js and/or TypeScript.
    • Owning features end-to-end including design, build, testing, deployment, and production support.
    • Building and maintaining secure, high-performance REST and event-driven APIs.
    • Designing efficient data models in DynamoDB and managing S3-based storage patterns.
  • Infrastructure & CI/CD
    • Building infrastructure as code using AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
    • Developing and improving CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tooling.
    • Driving automation across environments to ensure consistency, reliability, and repeatable deployments.
    • Supporting observability through monitoring, logging, and tracing (CloudWatch, X-Ray or equivalent).
  • Security & Governance
    • Implementing IAM roles, policies, and least-privilege access controls.
    • Managing secrets using AWS Secrets Manager or Parameter Store.
    • Supporting security reviews and ensuring compliance with internal standards.
  • Collaboration & Delivery
    • Working in Agile squads with sprint planning, reviews, and technical design sessions.
    • Partnering with product, data, and platform teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
    • Contributing to documentation, runbooks, and architectural decision records.

What we’re looking for

  • Must have
    • Strong commercial experience with Node.js and/or TypeScript in production environments.
    • Hands-on experience with AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
    • Solid experience building on AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, IAM, S3, SQS, SNS.
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, etc.).
    • Strong testing approach using Jest or similar frameworks.
    • Good understanding of cloud security fundamentals (IAM, least privilege, secure design).
    • Experience working in Agile, cross-functional engineering teams.
    • AWS certification (Solutions Architect, Developer Associate, or DevOps Engineer Professional).
  • Nice to have
    • Experience with React or similar frontend frameworks.
    • Exposure to Java, Go, C#, or other strongly typed languages.
    • Experience building internal developer platforms or shared services.
    • Knowledge of event streaming tools such as Kafka, Kinesis, or EventBridge.
    • AWS Connect or contact centre platform exposure.

Why join

This is a technically focused engineering environment where you’ll be trusted to own delivery, not just execute tickets. The team operates with modern cloud-native principles, strong engineering standards, and a clear focus on automation, scalability, and reliability.

You’ll be working on systems that matter, using modern AWS services, and contributing to platforms that are actively evolving rather than maintaining legacy infrastructure. The environment rewards engineers who want ownership, depth, and exposure across the full stack of cloud delivery.
