The Role – Senior Security Architect
The Senior Security Architect role is responsible for defining and assuring security architectures for AI, machine learning, and data-driven platforms. As a Senior Security Architect, you will work across the full lifecycle of AI systems, from design and development through to deployment and operation.
This Senior Security Architect role sits within multidisciplinary Agile delivery teams, collaborating closely with data scientists, ML engineers, software engineers, and platform teams. The Senior Security Architect will act as the authority on AI security, helping teams manage emerging risks while enabling innovation.
This role is well suited to a Senior Security Architect who is passionate about securing AI technologies and enjoys working in complex, highly regulated environments.
What You’ll Be Doing as a Senior Security Architect
As a Senior Security Architect, you will:
- Lead the secure design of AI, machine learning, and GenAI platforms
- Define security controls for data pipelines, model development, training, and inference
- Address AI-specific risks such as model theft, data poisoning, prompt injection, and model inversion
- Design governance and assurance approaches for responsible and ethical AI use
- Embed security into MLOps and AI delivery pipelines
- Act as the AI security authority within delivery teams
- Mentor and coach security specialists and delivery teams on AI security best practice
- Contribute to innovation, research, and continuous improvement in AI security
Key Responsibilities:
- Design secure, scalable architectures for AI and data-driven systems
- Apply secure-by-design and Zero Trust principles to AI platforms
- Ensure alignment with security, privacy, and regulatory frameworks (e.g. NCSC, ISO, NIST, GDPR)
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with AI models, datasets, and third-party components
- Support security testing and assurance of AI platforms and data pipelines
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex AI risks into clear security controls
- Produce clear architecture documentation, threat models, and security guidance
- Provide technical leadership across AI security delivery
Key Requirements:
The successful Senior Security Architect will bring strong security architecture experience combined with a deep interest in AI and data security.
You will have:
- Proven experience as a Senior Security Architect or Security Architect
- Experience securing data platforms, analytics platforms, or AI-enabled systems
- Understanding of AI/ML concepts and architectures (e.g. model training, inference, data pipelines)
- Knowledge of AI-specific security threats and mitigations
- Experience applying security standards and regulatory requirements (e.g. NCSC, ISO, NIST, GDPR)
- Ability to balance innovation, usability, risk, and compliance
- Experience working with Agile delivery teams
- Strong mentoring, coaching, and technical leadership capability
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
