Job Title: Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Architect

Location: London (Hybrid, 3 days a week in office)

Salary: Up to £85,000 base (depending on experience) + £5,000 bonus

NOTE: Due to the nature of the work, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC).

We are seeking an experienced Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Architect to join a high-performing cloud engineering and architecture team delivering complex, secure cloud solutions within the UK public sector. This offers the opportunity to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale Google Cloud environments, working closely with technical teams and senior stakeholders.

You will play a key role in shaping cloud strategy, defining technical architecture, and ensuring solutions meet both business outcomes and stringent security and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical architecture, design, and delivery of GCP solutions for large-scale, mission-critical environments
  • Design, deploy, and operate secure, resilient, and scalable Google Cloud architectures
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and platform services
  • Mentor and guide small engineering teams to ensure high-quality delivery
  • Produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and design specifications
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business and non-functional requirements into robust technical solutions

Required Skills and Experience

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in cloud architecture and engineering
  • Strong expertise across Google Cloud services (e.g. Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, IAM, VPC, networking)
  • Experience designing and implementing secure cloud landing zones and foundational platforms
  • Proven ability to architect cloud solutions aligned to security, performance, and availability requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • One or more Google Cloud Professional certifications
  • Infrastructure as Code experience (e.g. Terraform)
  • CI/CD pipelines and automation using scripting languages such as Python or Bash
