Lead Buyer - IT Procurement Location: Bolton Industry: Defense Working Pattern: Hybrid, 2 to 3 days per week onsite An established and highly respected global defense organization is expanding its procurement function and is looking for an experienced Lead Buyer to join its IT Procurement team. This is a great opportunity for an IT Buyer looking to take the next step in their career, or an experienced Indirect Buyer who is keen to move into technology procurement. The Role You will take ownership of procurement activity across a range of technology categories, working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to deliver effective commercial outcomes. The IT procurement function covers a broad range of areas including software, SaaS, IT services, cyber security, networks, hardware, AI and high-performance computing. You will have the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge in particular categories while also gaining exposure to wider areas of technology procurement. The role also involves working across an international environment, with regular engagement with teams and suppliers across the UK and Europe. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage significant IT procurement projects from initial requirements through to completion Work closely with Category Managers and internal stakeholders to understand business requirements Support sourcing activity, supplier engagement and commercial negotiations Develop strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers across multiple locations Contribute to procurement strategies across technology and indirect categories Identify opportunities to improve value, supplier performance and procurement processes About You We are interested in speaking with candidates who have either: Previous experience within IT or technology procurement Strong indirect procurement experience with an interest in moving into IT procurement You should be confident managing procurement projects, comfortable dealing with stakeholders and suppliers, and able to operate effectively within an international environment.
