Software Engineer (C++ / Rust), SC Eligible
I'm working with a fast-growing, venture-backed security technology business. It designs and manufactures world-leading network security devices that protect some of the most critical networks in the UK and beyond. Its customers span defence, national security, energy and the public sector, and in some cases it is the only team able to meet their requirements.
It's a small, highly skilled team that builds its core technology and manufactures in-house. It's now hiring junior to mid-level Software Engineers to improve existing products and build the next generation.
What you'll work on
You'll work on products with real-world impact in environments with complex security requirements. The team is known for rigorous, clean, testable code and strong Agile practice. TDD and pair/group programming are part of everyday work, so you'll be contributing from day one. Because the business is small, there's also scope to get involved in customer support, sales and other parts of a scale-up.
Future growth areas include:
- Low-level embedded work and Linux platform bring-up
- Real-time network protocols
- Network security
- Cloud applications
What you'll bring
- Around 2-5 years' experience as a software engineer, with a relevant degree or equivalent experience
- Some of the following:
- Modern C++ and the STL, or Rust
- Python
- Bare metal, Linux and/or real-time OS
- Network security knowledge or experience
- A drive for continuous improvement and quality software
- Enthusiasm for collaborative work, including pair programming with TDD
Security Clearance
You must be eligible for UK Security Clearance.
What’s on offer
- Competitive salary, bonus and pension
- Clear progression routes and ongoing training
- Flexible healthcare for you and your family
- Competitive leave
- Team events and a wide range of social clubs
- Varied work across multiple languages and tech stacks, so you're always learning
