We are seeking an experienced Lighting Designer (Specifications) who will be responsible for producing accurate and compliant lighting designs across a range of projects. The role involves translating project requirements and technical criteria into detailed product selections, documentation, and schedules that meet performance and client expectations. This position requires strong technical knowledge of lighting products, standards and calculation methods, with excellent attention to detail and coordination skills. The designer will work closely with internal teams, consultants and architects to ensure lighting designs are fully integrated within the wider project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lighting Specifications & Documentation
- Prepare detailed lighting specifications in line with project briefs, standards and budgets.
- Select appropriate luminaires and controls based on performance requirements.
- Produce lighting schedules, technical submittals, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure specifications comply with relevant regulations, standards and client requirements.
- Coordination & Communication
- Liaise closely with project stakeholders including consultants, architects, engineers and contractors to ensure lighting specifications align with overall project requirements and technical criteria.
- Coordinate lighting design information with architectural and engineering drawings.
- Attend project meetings and design reviews where required.
- Respond to technical queries from the consultants, architects, and project teams throughout design and construction stages.
- Collaborate with external teams to resolve coordination issues and ensure smooth project delivery.
- Prepare and deliver clear and professional presentations of lighting proposals, specifications, and technical solutions to consultants, architects, and project stakeholders.
- Quality & Compliance
- Maintain accuracy and consistency across all specifications and schedules.
- Ensure documentation aligns with project standards.
- Keep up to date with regulations and industry best practices.

- Experience in lighting design or lighting specification development.
- Strong understanding of lighting products and performance criteria.
- Experience producing lighting schedules and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with lighting calculation software (Relux or Dialux).
