The predicted salary is between 51750 - 63250 £ per year.

We are seeking an experienced Lighting Designer who will be responsible for delivering creative, compliant and commercially viable lighting design solutions in line with company standards and company objectives.

The role requires direct engagement with customers to interpret project requirements, budgets and programme constraints, ensuring proposed lighting solutions align with technical and commercial expectations.

You will be accountable for the production of accurate lighting layouts, calculations, specifications and supporting technical documentation, and for presenting proposal in a clear and professional manner.

All design outputs must comply with the relevant UK standards and regulations, including BS, CIBSE and Part L.

The role also supports site activities where required and contributes improvement through maintaining up-to-date knowledge of lighting products, lighting controls and industry developments.

Are you right for us?

Our Lighting Designer will have/be

  • Good level of general education or relevant qualification in Lighting Design or similar
  • Minimum 2 - 5 years’ experience in lighting design
  • Experience managing projects independently from concept to completion
  • Experience working directly with customers
  • Experience working within a fast-paced environment, managing a high volume of design projects while meeting strict turnaround times
  • Experience reviewing project specifications and producing compliant lighting design proposals.
  • Experience supporting specification-led projects, consultant enquiries or contractor design submissions.
  • Experience preparing lighting layouts, calculation reports, luminaire schedules and specification support information
  • Experienced in Relux or Dialux
  • Proficient in CAD
  • Highly computer-literate, being fully conversant with MS Excel and Word
  • Strong understanding of lighting principles, lighting controls, emergency lighting
  • Good understanding of UK lighting standards (BS, CIBSE, Part L)
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to interpret architectural, MEP and consultant drawings and translate them into practical lighting design solutions.
  • Good understanding of specification terminology, luminaire performance data, photometric files, emergency lighting requirements and control compatibility.
  • Understanding of project specification workflows, tender documentation and design responsibility requirements
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Confident communicator with customers
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills
  • Professional and solution- driven approach
  • Ability to build positive working relationships internally and externally
  • Commercially aware with the ability to balance design quality, compliance and cost considerations.
  • Proactive in identifying specification risks, design gaps and opportunities to add value during project development
  • Professional lighting accreditation (LIA)
  • Experience within a lighting manufacturer or commercial environment
  • Knowledge of Revit / BIM
  • Experience with lighting controls
  • Ability to interpret MEP drawings
  • Leadership potential and mentoring capability
