Position
You will be the SAP S/4HANA subject matter expert. As our organisation transitions to SAP S/4HANA, you will have accountabilities to bridge Manufacturing Engineering with the new ERP platform:
- Seek, facilitate and achieve direct improvements to processes, which could include investment, creating the business case for the change and demonstrating the resulting gain in productivity, efficiency, quality or other gains is justified.
- Eliminate waste wherever it may exist and always seek to improve visibility of operations.
Key activities
- Act as Manufacturing Engineering Key User during SAP S/4HANA implementation, ensuring that business requirements are represented during design, testing, and deployment.
- Develop strong expertise in S/4HANA modules relevant to manufacturing, including Material Master, Production Planning (PP), Production Execution, and Manufacturing Data Management.
- Support the definition, set‑up, and ongoing maintenance of Material Masters, Bills of Material (BoM), Routings, Work Centres, and Production Versions to ensure data accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
- Participate in and lead elements of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for manufacturing‑related transactions and scenarios, validating system behaviour against real‑world shop floor requirements.
- Work closely with ERP project teams, consultants, and business stakeholders to map existing manufacturing processes into S/4HANA, identifying gaps and proposing solutions.
- Train and support fellow Manufacturing Engineers and shop floor users in new processes and transactions within SAP, acting as the go‑to expert within the team.
- Post Go Live, provide first‑line support and troubleshooting for manufacturing‑related system issues, escalating as required.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to better use S/4HANA functionality to streamline planning, scheduling, and production execution.
- Maintain strict governance over master data integrity to ensure reliable planning, cost control, and traceability in a nuclear manufacturing environment.
- Ensure that manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and procedures are aligned with SAP transactions and reflect the new digital way of working.
- Identify waste (lean definition) and non‑value‑adding activities, seeking changes to eliminate or minimize them at every stage in the manufacturing process from design to dispatch. Document these activities throughout.
Requirements
- Extensive hands‑on experience with SAP S/4HANA.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and how they translate into ERP transactions.
- Ability to act as an effective bridge between technical ERP specialists and practical manufacturing operations.
- Data‑driven mindset with attention to accuracy, structure, and compliance.
- At least 5 years industrial experience in a SAP / ERP manufacturing role.
- Ability to communicate clear written and verbal instructions to people of various knowledge bases.
- Work in an organized methodical manner to review designs and offer advice on improved manufacturability.
- A cost and time focused mentality.
- Understands and works to the right first time culture and contributes to the whole process.

The role is office based, in Wolverhampton.
