Our Food and Beverage team is essential for maintaining our exemplary guest satisfaction at Another Place, The Machrie. Delivering exceptional dining, our Food and Beverage Assistants craft exquisite coffee, mix cocktails, and ensure that guests receive a consistently high-quality dining experience. Together, we ensure that guests receive a warm welcome and are cared for, aware of our current offerings, and enjoy every moment that they spend with us.
As our Food and Beverage Assistant you’ll be:
- Greeting guests warmly while delivering excellent customer service.
- Prepared for service through effective mise en place and advance preparation.
- Anticipating guest needs and responding promptly to requests or concerns.
- Clearly communicating menu details across all services (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, room service, dinner).
- Taking food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently.
- Maintaining solid knowledge of food, beverages, and current menus, including wine and whisky availability.
- Coordinating with kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely order delivery.
- Serving food and beverages professionally and courteously, including recommending pairings.
- Sharing guest feedback and training needs with team members.
- Handling cash and card transactions accurately.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation in dining and back-of-house areas, including daily Riskproof completion.
You'll also be:
- A team player able to work independently while remaining compliant with all licensing laws.
- Experienced in bar service and events is desirable, however training is provided.
- Confident handling room service orders, guest feedback, and timely service delivery.
- Aware of allergens and adhering to food safety and sanitation standards (training provided).
- Flexible to support different hotel areas as needed.
- Fostering a positive, inclusive team environment and promoting our shared responsibility to care for our teams and planet.
The skills you’ll be sharing with us:
- Previous experience in a similar role (preferred but not required).
- A strong guest focus and ability to work in a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail with organizational skills.
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions.
- A Food Hygiene certificate (desirable).
- Excellent time management and delegation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good listening skills and a proactive, helpful attitude towards team members (essential).
- A willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed (essential).
- Previous experience of island living or similar (desirable).
- Interests in the outdoors, natural history, marine or animal science, photography, or documentary filmmaking (desirable).
Due to the hotel’s remote location, you will require a valid driving license and access to a personal vehicle (preferred). We also offer team accommodation within same-sex residences where possible.
