Our Bar and Waiting Assistant role: Another Place, The Machrie - a place for people who take pride in growing their skills, supporting local suppliers, sharing seasonal menus, crafting great coffee, mixing cocktails, and maintaining excellent guest experiences. We’re looking for dynamic individuals who value positive lifestyle choices and excel as food and beverage all-rounders. Essential to our Bar and Waiting team, our Bar and Waiting Assistants pride themselves on every aspect of their roles as our waiters, baristas, or mixologists, and ensure that guests receive a consistently high-quality dining experience. Together, our team ensures that guests receive a warm welcome and are cared for, aware of our current offerings, and enjoy every moment that they spend with us.

This is a full-time position offered on a 40 hour per week annualised contract.

As our Bar and Waiting Assistant, you’ll be:

  • Greeting guests warmly and providing excellent customer service.
  • Ready for service by understanding the importance of mis en place and preparation ahead of time.
  • Anticipating guests' needs and responding promptly to any requests or concerns.
  • Preparing hot and cold beverages.
  • Keeping the area you’re responsible for clean, tidy and organised.
  • Taking part in team tasting sessions to give you an authentic understanding of our menus for answering guest questions and boosting team creativity and rapport.
  • Taking orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Demonstrating a base knowledge of food and beverage within a quality driven hotel, restaurant, bar or hospitality environment.
  • Prepared for service with a knowledge of our wine and whisky lists and availability.
  • Recommending food and wine/whisky pairings.
  • Handling cash and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently.

You'll also be:

  • A team player, with the ability to work independently.
  • Adhering to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Creating a positive working environment and culture within our team.

The skills you’ll be sharing with us:

  • Barista, waiting or bar experience, or other relevant experience in customer facing roles in retail or leisure.
  • A team player, with lots of enthusiasm and personality.
  • A strong guest focus with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good listening skills and a proactive, helpful attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
  • Basic math skills for handling cash transactions.
  • A Food Hygiene certificate (desirable).
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • A willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed (essential).

Due to the remote location of our hotel, you’ll require a driving licence and access to a personal vehicle. We also offer team accommodation within same-sex residences (where possible).
