We are looking to speak with experienced Platers and Fabricators for upcoming long-term engineering work in the South West. This opportunity would suit candidates with a background in marine, defence, dockyard, shipbuilding, ship repair, structural fabrication or heavy engineering. The South West has a strong long-term marine and defence engineering market, including major dockyard and infrastructure activity around Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth. The work is expected to suit experienced tradespeople who are comfortable working on large-scale engineering programmes where accuracy, safety and quality are essential.

Key duties:

  • Marking out, cutting and preparing steel plate and structural components
  • Fabricating and assembling components from engineering drawings
  • Fitting plates, stiffeners, brackets, frames and structural sections
  • Carrying out dimensional checks before welding
