  • Troubleshooting hardware, diagnosing faults and implementing solutions
  • Supporting system integration, testing and validation activities
  • Interpreting experimental data and solving problems from first principles
  • Assisting with installation and commissioning of systems at customer sites
  • Working closely with multidisciplinary teams across engineering and science

About You

We are looking for a practical, adaptable individual with a strong grounding in physics or engineering, who is comfortable working hands‑on with real systems. You are likely to have:

  • A degree (or PhD) in Physics, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Strong experimental or instrumentation experience
  • A hands‑on approach with experience building, modifying or troubleshooting hardware
  • The ability to analyse results and apply first‑principles thinking
  • Experience working with complex systems in laboratory or industrial environments

Highly Desirable

  • Hands‑on experience with vacuum systems (UHV/XHV), including operation, maintenance or assembly
  • Experience with scientific instrumentation (e.g., detectors, imaging systems, surface analysis tools, or similar)
  • Experience with data acquisition, control systems or experimental automation
  • Exposure to electronics, sensors or system integration

Additional Information

This role may involve occasional travel to support system installation and customer interaction. The position offers excellent exposure to cutting‑edge technology and real‑world applications.
