Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Gardener/ Horticulturalist to join our team on a private estate and working farm near Cranbrook. You will be responsible for the comprehensive maintenance of five diverse gardens across the estate, while also developing and managing a commercial horticultural operation. This role offers a unique opportunity to blend traditional garden maintenance with entrepreneurial horticultural development.
Responsibilities:
- Estate Garden Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including mowing, edging, weeding, and lawn repairs.
- Execute seasonal maintenance, such as lawn treatments, scarification, aeration, irrigation, and pest/disease control.
- Maintain five diverse gardens to a high standard.
- Commercial Horticultural Development:
- Develop and implement a commercial horticultural concept for the farm.
- Manage all aspects of cultivation, including planning, preparation, planting, growing, and harvesting of flowers, microgreens, and vegetables.
- Ensure a consistent supply of produce to the on-site farm shop.
- Manage the entire horticultural lifecycle from planning to sales.
Experience and Skills:
- Proven experience in horticulture and garden maintenance.
- Strong understanding of plant husbandry and production techniques.
- Self-motivated with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to high standards.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
- Commercial mindset.
- Full UK Driving License.
