In the UK their Docklands data centre campus facilitates the majority of the London Internet Exchange’s (LINX) capacity, meaning that they support a huge proportion of all UK internet traffic, making their Docklands campus a globally important internet hub. JOB OVERVIEW As part of the Engineering Department, the role of the Electrical Engineer is to aid the design, upgrade, commissioning, and day-to-day operation of the new and existing electrical infrastructure across the 5 existing data centres and ancillary buildings. Great focus is put on the design principles of design simplicity, energy efficiency, sustainability and ease of maintenance. The Electrical Engineer will work closely with electrical engineers and the wider Engineering Department, the site operational team (including facilities maintenance staff), project delivery team, specialist sub-contractors and external design consultants. Attend all the required training programmes. Key Responsibilities: To be keen to learn new skills and learn from ongoing projects. To attend related training sessions and meetings. To support Energy Saving Projects. To support ongoing Design and Build Projects. To produce and update technical design standards, keeping abreast of new products and technologies to ensure quality, reliability and safety of electrical engineering processes and solutions. To provide technical assistance for BAU (business as usual) operational issues and queries, including: Investigating incidents and outages, irregularities, providing solutions and recommendations. Providing engineering call-out support to other departments within Operations and Service Delivery divisions. To coordinate and collaborate with external consultants and contractors to develop design to construction and work through emerging issues. To support Electrical Engineers in appraising initial engineering options for all projects. To travel for factory visits and Factory Acceptance Tests (UK and abroad). Meet the Compliance Requirements. To actively support the targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in the sphere of work assignments. To participate in the Company’s training and awareness programmes. Essential Requirements: BEng Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Strong skills in MS Office suite. Strong team member but ability to work autonomously. Passion for complex problem solving. Critical thinking, drive to find new solutions. Excellent communication skills including strong ability to describe complex technical concepts in non-technical language. Strong at information gathering and analysis. Desirable Requirements: MEng or equivalent. Previous experience in data centres or other critical infrastructure. Able to use / learn AutoCAD and/or Revit.
