Pay and allowances:

  • £24.88 per hour PAYE
  • £37.32 per hour overtime after 40 hours per week
  • £33.09 per hour for night shifts
  • £400 weekly travel and lodge allowance

Estimated gross weekly earnings:

  • 45-hour day shift: £1,581.80 per week
  • 67-hour day shift: £2,402.84 per week
  • 45-hour night shift: £1,910.20 per week
  • 67-hour night shift: £2,731.24 per week

The estimated weekly figures include the £400 travel and lodge allowance and are subject to the hours and shifts worked.

We are looking to speak with experienced Pipefitters for upcoming long-term fabrication and marine engineering work in Fife. This opportunity would suit Pipefitters with experience in shipbuilding, marine engineering, defence, industrial pipework, manufacturing or heavy engineering. Fife has a strong and established engineering labour market, supported by long-term shipbuilding activity in the wider area, including the Rosyth Type 31 Frigate Programme led by Babcock. The work is expected to suit tradespeople who are used to structured engineering environments with demanding standards around safety, quality and accuracy.

Key duties:

  • Fabricating and installing pipework systems and assemblies
  • Working from piping isometrics, drawings and technical specifications
  • Measuring, cutting and preparing pipe for installation
  • Installing valves, flanges, supports, brackets and associated fittings
  • Carrying out pipe alignment and fit-up before welding
  • Bolting and torquing mechanical and flanged joints
  • Supporting system pressure testing and commissioning activities
  • Identifying and resolving pipework alignment or installation issues
  • Working alongside welders, mechanical fitters and production teams
  • Following site safety, quality and housekeeping requirements

Experience required:

  • Strong pipefitting experience
  • Experience in shipbuilding, marine, defence, manufacturing or heavy engineering environments
  • Ability to read and work accurately from piping isometrics and engineering drawings
  • Experience fabricating and installing carbon steel or stainless-steel pipework
  • Confidence working with valves, flanges, pipe supports and mechanical joints
  • Experience with flange management or mechanical joint integrity would be beneficial
  • Relevant apprenticeship, NVQ or equivalent trade qualification would be advantageous
  • Ability to work to project, dimensional and quality standards
