Bakery Manager

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Bakery Manager to lead a busy bakery production operation. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled artisan baker who combines exceptional technical baking knowledge with strong leadership skills and a creative approach to product development. The successful candidate will take ownership of the day-to-day bakery operation, leading and developing a team while maintaining consistently high standards of quality, productivity and craftsmanship. A key part of the role will be developing innovative new bakery products for sale through our retail outlets, bringing fresh ideas and commercial creativity to an established product range. Lead, motivate and develop a team of bakers, creating a positive, productive and supportive working environment. Oversee all aspects of daily and nightly bakery production, ensuring quality, consistency and efficiency. Take a hands-on approach to artisan bread and bakery production, demonstrating excellent technical skills. Develop and introduce exciting new product lines, taking ideas from initial concept through recipe development, costing and production. Ensure production meets the requirements of our retail outlets while maintaining the highest standards of freshness and quality. Manage staffing, rotas, training and performance. Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and health and safety standards. Monitor ingredient costs, stock control, waste and overall production efficiency. Identify opportunities to improve processes, productivity and profitability without compromising product quality. We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable leading a team and getting hands-on in the bakery. We can consider sponsorship for the right candidate, if you are already based in the UK. Significant experience as a skilled artisan baker, with excellent practical knowledge of traditional baking techniques. Previous experience managing or supervising a bakery production team. Strong people management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach and develop others. A genuine passion for creating high-quality bakery products. Experience developing new recipes and products, with an understanding of commercial viability and production costs. Excellent organisational and planning skills. A thorough understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements. The flexibility and commitment to work night shifts and weekends. You will be a confident, approachable leader who sets high standards, leads by example and takes pride in both the quality of your products and the success of your team. Competitive salary of £40,000–£45,000 depending on experience. A permanent, full-time position working 45 hours per week. The opportunity to lead and shape an established bakery operation.
