Responsibilities of the Role
- Revise the Homes menu on a regular basis as per home policy and minimum standards
- Ensure all food orders are requested with ample time while working under an agreed budget
- Ensure that the kitchen is hygienically clean at all times
- Ensure dietary requirements are monitored, adhered to and met as necessary
- Prepare meals at an agreed time as required by the home and residents
- Ensure timely distribution of scheduled meals
- Offer and prepare meal options for residents to include main food groups
- Monitor/oversee any meals prepared by kitchen staff
- Delegate appropriate work to the kitchen staff as required and monitor that this has been carried out to a satisfactory level
- Report any equipment requirements or maintenance requirements in timely fashion
- Ensure all cleaning is completed as per cleaning rota
- Ensure all food returned to the fridge is covered with cling film and dated
- Ensure all foods are appropriately covered
- Ensure appropriate kitchen protocol is maintained i. e. no eating in the kitchen, carers are not to wash their hands at the kitchen sink, etc
- Ensure all frozen foods are taken out of the freezer giving ample time to defrost
- Adhere to and ensure safe practice according to Health and Safety policies.
- Adhere to Food Hygiene Regulations and HACCP
Experience/Qualifications
- Level 2 NVQ/City and Guilds/Equivalent in Food Safety and Hygiene is essential
- Level 3 in above is preferable
- Experience in a similar role is preferable but not essential
