We’re looking for someone who can lead from the front, drive employer engagement, and build meaningful partnerships that translate into real opportunities for learners. You’ll take ownership of a small but high-impact team, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality work placements while expanding employer networks. If you’re commercially minded, relationship-driven, and comfortable managing performance - you’ll thrive here.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading, coaching, and developing a team responsible for sourcing and managing work placements
  • Driving employer engagement activity - including business development, networking, and lead generation
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with local, regional, and national employers
  • Ensuring consistent achievement of placement targets and KPIs
  • Using data and performance metrics to improve outcomes and processes
  • Overseeing the full work placement lifecycle - from sourcing to quality assurance
  • Supporting employers with guidance to ensure successful placement experiences

  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to align placement activity with wider organisational goals

What We’re Looking For

This role needs someone who can balance leadership with commercial awareness. If you’re just a people manager with no delivery focus - this won’t land. Likewise, if you’re purely sales-driven but can’t lead a team - it’ll show quickly. You’ll likely bring:

  • Experience in employer engagement, business development, or placement programmes
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team to hit targets
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
  • Confidence working with data to drive decisions and improvements
  • A proactive, self-directed approach - you won’t be micromanaged
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience within education, training, or skills-based environments
  • Exposure to industry placements, apprenticeships, or similar programmes
  • Experience working with CRM systems and reporting tools
