ACR is working with a well-established and market-leading manufacturer of processing equipment and systems to recruit an experienced Engineering Buyer to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an innovative engineering environment where you will play a key role in supporting production and project success. Working closely with engineering, production and quality teams, you will be responsible for sourcing technical materials, engineered components and services while driving supplier performance and cost efficiencies.
Engineering Buyer's Key Responsibilities:
- Source and procure engineered components, raw materials, tooling and technical services from approved suppliers
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and Bills of Materials to ensure accurate purchasing decisions
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, monitoring performance, quality, lead times and delivery
- Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure purchased items meet technical requirements
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction through alternative sourcing, supplier optimisation, and value engineering
- Manage procurement data including supplier pricing, lead times, inventory levels, and supplier performance records
Skills & Experience Required as an Engineering Buyer:
- Previous experience in technical, engineering, manufacturing or industrial procurement
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and supply chain principles
- Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing supplier relationships
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and BOMs
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems and procurement software
- HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or a related discipline would be advantageous, alongside CIPS or procurement qualifications
