Job Title: Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer
Location: Peterborough
Shift: Permanent Night Shift (Continental 3’s & 2’s pattern)
Salary: £50,000 - £54,000 + Overtime
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and proactive Multi-skilled Shift Engineer to join a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This role will suit someone who is confident working across both mechanical and electrical disciplines, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of specialist production equipment. The role combines reactive breakdown support with planned maintenance and continuous improvement work, offering plenty of variety and technical challenge.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on factory equipment (mechanical and electrical)
- Respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime
- Liaise closely with production teams to ensure efficient workflow and minimal disruption
- Support installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment
- Assist and supervise external contractors on site
- Contribute to continuous improvement and engineering projects
Qualifications
- Experience working in a multi‑skilled engineering role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills (18th edition would be ideal)
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively on shift
- Confident communicator who can collaborate across teams
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
- Willingness to learn and develop professionally
