Some companies talk about being people-focused. This one really is! We’re recruiting for a successful, reputable business where people are valued. There’s an understanding that employees have lives outside of work, and the business genuinely wants people to enjoy being part of the team. They work hard and take pride in what they do so, while HR experience is obviously important, personality matters too.

Why this role? Because sometimes the environment you work in matters just as much as the job you do. This is a business that has built its culture around trust, support, reliability and doing the right thing. Where HR isn't simply there to police policies, you'll have the opportunity to support people, develop managers, improve processes and help shape how the organisation continues to grow. This isn't a role where you'll simply sit behind a desk processing HR paperwork. You'll be visible, approachable and involved, getting to know the people and helping managers create a positive environment where people can perform at their best.

Culture fit

To succeed in this role, you'll need to be positive and willing to get stuck in. You'll have a strong work ethic without taking yourself too seriously and be someone employees feel comfortable talking to and managers trust to give them sensible, pragmatic advice. And when the office has one of those days, a sense of humour definitely won't hurt!

This is a broad, hands-on HR Manager position where you’ll be a trusted point of contact for employees and managers offering plenty of variety and the opportunity to influence how the company continues to develop its people practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing recruitment from vacancy through to offer, onboarding and induction
  • Supporting managers with employee relations matters including absence, disciplinary and performance issues
  • Acting as a first point of contact for HR queries from employees and managers
  • Managing and developing the performance review process
  • Supporting employee development, training and succession planning
  • Developing a company-wide skills matrix
  • Supporting employee wellbeing, engagement and retention
  • Building strong relationships with employees and having regular catch-ups where additional support may be needed
  • Reviewing and developing HR policies and procedures
  • Identifying ways to make HR processes simpler and more effective
  • Coaching and training managers on HR matters
  • Producing HR KPIs and management information for the senior leadership team
  • Managing HR administration, documentation and employee records
  • Working with the company's external HR support provider

This HR Manager role would suit an experienced HR generalist who is comfortable working across both the operational and people-focused sides of HR. Ideally with:

  • CIPD Level 5 or an equivalent HR qualification
  • Around 3–5 years' experience within a generalist HR role
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Experience supporting employee relations matters
  • End-to-end recruitment experience
  • Experience using HR systems and Microsoft Office
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • The confidence to advise and support managers
  • The ability to handle confidential information professionally
  • Experience with HR policies, HR reporting/KPIs, manager training, performance management or skills matrices would also be beneficial.

You'll receive:

  • £45,000
  • 25 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays
  • Company pension
  • 37.5-hour working week
  • An agreed flexible working pattern

Apply today or get in touch for a confidential conversation, the best opportunities are about finding the right people and the right place to work.
